NO TAKE BACK Once it's said, it's nailed. That's what notakeback.com means.
Android · free · no account · your messages never leave your phone
Some things can't be unsaid.
Nail keeps a private copy of every message that hits your notifications — WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Signal, Instagram and more. Even the ones they delete. Even the ones they edit.
Android 8.0+ · Not on Google Play yet, download here.
What Nail It does, in one breath
Every chat app shows you new messages as Android notifications. Nail reads those notifications — and only those — and keeps the messages in a private, searchable history on your phone.
Install & allow
Download the APK, open it, and switch on Notification access for Nail. No account, no email, no phone number, no root.
Pick your apps
Nail detects the chat apps on your phone and pre-selects them. WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Signal, Instagram DMs, Viber, Discord, Slack… you choose.
Keep what you saw
Messages appear in Nail as they arrive. If someone deletes or edits one afterwards, Nail notices, keeps your copy and tells you: They deleted it. You didn't.
Features
Deleted messages, caught
When a message vanishes from a notification you never dismissed, Nail flags it, keeps it and sends you a heads-up. Works for the middle of a conversation too: A, B, C → A, C means B is gone.
Edits, caught
Same sender, same time, different text? That's an edit. Nail keeps the original and the new version side by side.
Every chat app
One history across WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, Telegram, Messenger, Signal, Instagram, Viber, Google Messages, Discord, Slack, Teams, LINE, WeChat and more — plus any other app that posts chat-style notifications.
Search everything
Full-text search across all apps and chats. A word, a phrase, a name. Jump to any date in a conversation.
Your board
Long-press any message and nail it to your board. Pinned messages never expire. Deleted and edited messages have their own tabs.
Media Rescue
Opt-in: Nail copies photos, videos, voice notes, stickers and documents the moment a chat app saves them, so a "delete for everyone" can't take them back. Rescued files that later vanish from the phone are flagged: they deleted it, you didn't.
Share as a card
Turn any nailed message into a branded image card — "They deleted it. You didn't." — and share it wherever you like. Only when you choose to.
Nail Stats
Messages nailed, deletions and edits caught, busiest chats, per-app breakdown. Computed on your phone, reported to no one.
Ads that stay out of the way
One small banner at the bottom of the screen, and a short video only when you choose to reveal a deleted message or an edit history. No surprise interstitials, and no ad code that can read your messages.
Knows when there's a new version
A small banner in the app tells you when a newer Nail is on this site, with a one-tap download. Daily check, nothing sent, optional.
App lock & retention
Fingerprint / PIN lock, screenshot blocking, and a retention policy from 1 day to forever. Delete everything with one tap.

Loading the latest version…
- Open the downloaded file. Android asks once to allow installs from your browser — allow it.
- Updating from a version before 1.6.0? Uninstall the old Nail first, then install (the app is now signed with its Google Play key, and Android does not update across signing keys). From 1.6.0 on, new versions install straight over the old one.
- Seeing "App blocked to protect your device" (Google Play Protect)? That's Google's rule for any sideloaded app that can read notifications, and the dialog has no "install anyway" button. Fix in 30 seconds: open the Play Store → your profile picture → Play Protect → the gear icon → switch off Scan apps with Play Protect → install Nail → switch it back on. Nail keeps working. (Alternative: install over USB with
adb install.) This goes away once Nail is on Google Play. - Android says "For your security, this setting is currently unavailable" when you switch on Notification access? That is Android 13's Restricted settings rule for apps installed outside Google Play. Fix: long-press the Nail icon → App info → the ⋮ menu at the top right → Allow restricted settings → go back and switch Notification access on. Nail shows an "Open App info" shortcut when this applies. Installs from Google Play are not affected.
- Open Nail and tap Nail it. Switch on Notification access for Nail when Android asks.
- Pick your apps. Done — new messages start arriving. Google Play listing coming soon.

Privacy is the product
Nail itself sends nothing
The only thing Nail fetches for itself is this site's public version list, once a day, to tell you when a new version is out. No identifiers, no messages, no stats. The ad SDK talks to Google on its own and is never handed your data. Switch the version check off in Settings if you prefer.
No account, no cloud
No sign-up, no email, no phone number. No cloud backup, no analytics on your messages, and the ad SDK cannot read your data.
Only notifications
Nail never touches your chat apps' databases, never uses Accessibility services, never needs root. It reads what Android already shows you.
Ads on your terms
A small banner at the bottom, plus a short video you start yourself to reveal a deleted message or an edit history. Once revealed, it stays revealed. No surprise interstitials, and no ad code that can see your data.
Encrypted at rest
The database (SQLCipher, AES-256) and every saved photo, video and voice note (AES-GCM) are encrypted with keys that live in your phone's hardware keystore. A copy of the files is unreadable anywhere else, even on another phone.
Yours to delete
Retention from 1 day to forever. App lock. Screenshot blocking. One tap deletes everything.
Honest answers
Does Nail capture every message?
No. Nail is a notification history. If an app shows no notification — the chat is muted, open on screen, or read on another device — there is nothing to capture. When an app collapses a huge backlog into "999 messages from 20 chats", Nail tells you it couldn't nail them.
How does it know a message was deleted?
Chat apps re-post the same notification with the full unread list every time a new message arrives. If a notification showed messages A, B and C, and the same notification (one you never dismissed) is re-posted with only A and C, then B was deleted for everyone. Nail flags it as possibly deleted, keeps it, and alerts you.
And edits?
Apps keep the original timestamp when a message is edited. Same chat, same sender, same timestamp, different text → an edit. Nail keeps both versions.
Images, voice, video?
From notifications: images only, when the app attaches them. With Media Rescue switched on (Settings), Nail also copies photos, videos, voice notes, stickers and documents from the chat apps' media folders as they arrive, and notices when the originals get deleted. On Android 11+ voice notes and stickers need the optional "All files access" permission because WhatsApp hides those folders from the media index. Everything stays on the phone.
Is it on Google Play?
Not yet. For now Nail is available only from this site. Installing an APK is safe and normal on Android; your browser asks once for permission.
Does Nail affect my chat apps?
No. Nail never dismisses, replaces or marks as read any notification, never sends messages and never touches the other app's data. Deleting history in Nail never affects the chat app.
